About Lorraine Murphy

I have over twenty years experience as an Occupational Therapist working in the vocational rehabilitation field, both in New Zealand and overseas. After completing a Diploma in Occupational Therapy I worked in the United States for two years. In that time I worked in acute rehabilitation facilities for the elderly in Arkansas, Florida and North Carolina.

After my return to Wellington, New Zealand, I worked with the Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) as part of a multi-disciplinary rehabilitation team, supporting ACC claimants with long-term injuries back into the workplace.

Eighteen years ago I started Resolution Rehabilitation Limited with a focus on providing vocational-based support for the prevention and management of workplace discomfort and injury. My services include Workplace Assessments, Workstation and Postural Overviews, Vocational Rehabilitation and Graduated Return to Work Plans.

Working closely with Case Managers and Employers (including Industry, Administration, Local Authorities and Government Departments) in the Greater Wellington area, I specialise in the rehabilitation of employees with workplace discomfort and injuries.

Outside of work my interests include travelling, gardening and growing vegetables, fruit trees, lavender and olives on our parcel of rural land in Marlborough.

“At VSA we use Lorraine’s 30 minute “Workstation and Postural Overview” as a core part of our staff induction programme. Lorraine manages to quickly identify likely causes of workstation discomfort and provide guidance/tips and tricks on how to eliminate bad habits and minimise discomfort. Feedback from staff is consistently positive following their assessment.

“It was extremely useful to speak with Lorraine yesterday, I have had a sore shoulder from ‘computering’ for some time now after writing my thesis, and I really appreciate her suggestions about how to address it through posture and developing good new habits.

“All in all, feeling much more comfortable and sitting with a better posture since Lorraine’s visit.”
